Acquiring Property Rights in the United Arab Emirates
To date, most of the Emirates offer properties to foreigners on either a freehold or long-term leasehold basis, with respective property laws applicable within each Emirate. Abu Dhabi was the first Emirate to release its Real Estate Ownership Act in August 2005, followed by the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The Emirate of Dubai introduced its Property Law in March 2006.
